COMMUNITY ACTION HILLSBORO FAMILY SHELTER
HILLSBORO FAMILY SHELTER
Year-round shelter for families. Houses families for up to five weeks. Tenant education is available to shelter residents. Residents meet regularly with a Family Advocate to work on goals, establish a financial plan, and find stable permanent housing. Also provides support for school-aged children to stay in their neighborhood schools.

Emergency food boxes are also available.

Provides a small shelter program and case management. Families live and sleep at a hotel or sleep at participating churches on a rotating schedule, spending one week at each church. At 7am, families are transported to the Family Promise Day House (Resource Center and day facility) for breakfast, showers, laundry, etc. Families are transported to a hosting church each evening at 5pm, are provided with dinner, and sleep overnight in separate rooms (bedding provided, no showers).



Staff work closely with the families, giving them individual attention and support to help them become self-sufficient. A family advocate is assigned for each family to make a tailored plan for permanent housing.

FAMILY PROMISE OF THE MID-WILLAMETTE VALLEY
Provides short-term emergency shelter, case management, rental assistance, and other housing resources to homeless families. Families must take responsibility for developing and then working on a plan to move towards self-sufficiency with the input and help of the Family Case Manager. The program's goal is to assist families in securing stable, permanent housing within 30 days. This is a faith-based program, but does not require any affiliation, belief, or attendance at religious services.

Eligibility: Homeless families (individuals or couples accompanied by their children under age 18). Pregnant women will be considered on a space availability basis. Parents must consistently monitor their children's behavior and activity. Families are responsible for following behavior guidelines. No active alcohol/drug usage. Past usage considered on a case-by-case basis. Each adult must consent to a criminal background check. Past convictions considered on a case-by-case basis.

FAMILY SHELTER
Provides a family shelter with active assessment and action plans, tenant education, and support. Families have up to six weeks to fulfill their plans and goals, but each case is handled differently depending on individual situations. Families also have access to their own private rooms. The shelter is run by volunteers and permanent staff that provide three meals per day.

GRESHAM WOMEN'S SHELTER
The Gresham Women's Shelter is a low-barrier, reservation-based shelter for 90 women, with bunk beds. If unable to access a top bunk, reasonable accommodations may be made if available.

Guests will be able to store a small amount of belongings in a secure 3ft locker and use the kitchen, on-site laundry, and showers. Community food storage limited to one cloth grocery bag for cupboard and one gallon size zip bag for fridge per person. Non-perishable food items allowed in personal locker.

During the day, guests can use the computer center and access services through referrals with Human Solutions and community partners. Services include assistance finding housing, employment, veterans' services, and mental health and addictions services.

There is no time limit on stay at the shelter; guests can stay as long as needed.
Eligibility: Female-identified adults age 18 and older. No minors under 18 years old are able to be accommodated. Pregnant women in any trimester of pregnancy.

Pets welcome. One pet allowed per guest. If not a service animal, pet must be on a leash when on the property. It is okay for cats and dogs to be outside of their kennels while inside the building, as long as the owner has control of the animal AND it is on a leash. Guests have up to 72 hours to get their own kennel.
Hours: Waitlist Intake: Monday-Friday 8am-6pm
Shelter: open 24 hours per day / 7 days per week for current residents. Curfew is at 11pm. Late entry that is job-related can be arranged during intake. Closed M-F 9:30am-12:30pm for cleaning.

Shelters spaces vary by location and provide three meals per day, a microwave, limited storage for food items and personal belongings, showers and laundry facilities. Due to space constraints storage availability is very limited.

Families in places not meant for human habitation (streets/camping/in vehicles/sleeping outside, etc.) will be prioritized during winter months, November-March.
Eligibility: Families (any combination of adults) with a minor child under the age of 18 OR pregnant individuals in their 3rd trimester (28 weeks+) who are homeless, meeting one of the following:

-Staying in a place not meant for human habitation (car, tent, park, garage, etc.)
-Unsafely doubled up/couch surfing
-In a motel temporarily
-Exiting an institution (shelter, transitional housing, jail, hospital) where they temporarily resided for 90 days or less and were homeless prior
-At imminent risk of losing housing (must have an official eviction notice)

Families who are currently on a lease and do not have an eviction notice are not eligible.
Youth under 18 with children or pregnant are not eligible.

One animal per family (Pets and Assistance Animals accepted) with documentation. Must bring own kennel.

Transitional shelter with 12 beds for homeless women and children. Dinner, shower, and laundry offered to all, even those not staying in the shelter overnight. Sack breakfast provided in the morning for people staying overnight.

Day center for houseless families and pregnant women that provides a place to shower, make phone calls, pick up mail and messages, do laundry, eat, etc. Families may come and go as they wish during the day.



The Night Shelter Annex is a low-barrier, 90-day wraparound case management and shelter program for families experiencing houselessness. Services include access to individual dorm units, laundry, showers, meals (breakfast and dinner), First Place Kids child care, and First Place Family Center day-access center. Families must first be registered at First Place Family Center to be eligible for the Night Shelter Annex.



Pre-screening is required. Eligible households will be added to a central housing referral list for all programs they qualify for.
