During fall open enrollment, provides informational clinics and individual counseling sessions. Provides advocacy in navigating the Medicare billing and appeals process. Through the Senior Medicare Patrol program, addresses Medicare fraud prevention.

Provides information on free or low-cost prescription resources for those with no insurance coverage. Staff screen for eligibility and assist in enrollment for the Medicare Extra Help Prescription Program and the Oregon Prescription Drug Program.

Provides an avenue for reporting workers' compensation fraud, doctors who bill for phantom services, and instances of workers receiving benefits which may be false.

Website provides information on all aspects of Medicare, including how to apply, find and compare healthcare providers, make address changes and resolve Medicare card issues, get help with costs, find out how Medicare works with other insurance, and report Medicare fraud. The website also provides information on nursing homes, hospitals, home health services, and medical equipment suppliers. Phone line assists with Medicare billing questions and questions about claims, records, and expenses.

The Statewide Health Insurance Benefits Advisors (SHIBA) helpline provides confidential help with Medicare and health care choices. Volunteer advisors can help assess health care coverage needs, determine eligibility for health care coverage programs, evaluate and compare health insurance plans and programs, provide Medicare enrollment help, speak with Medicare on your behalf, collect and report possible fraud complaints, and refer to other agencies and programs.
