Cowlitz-Wahkiakum Legal Aid coordinates free civil legal aid for low income citizens of Cowlitz and Wahkiakum counties with the help of licensed attorneys and skilled staff in the categories of bankruptcy assistance, vacation of criminal record,eviction prevention, divorce, custody, support, general legal aid, guardianship and wills, and landlord/tenant dispute resolution. Also provides legal forms to the public for many different civil legal issues.

Agency assists with criminal record and eviction expungement, job development, workplace training, financial literacy, and felony rights with a focus on the African American and BIPOC community. May be able to provide program participants with supplies such as personal protective equipment and a desktop computer. Provides reentry training to women ages 18-24.

Eligibility: Charges that may be set aside include most violations, misdemeanors, Class C felonies, and those felonies that may be treated as misdemeanors. Most Class A and Class B felony convictions may not be set aside. No type of traffic violation (such as speeding) or traffic crime (such as DUII) can be set aside. Violent felonies, most sex offenses and offenses involving child abuse may not be set aside. Allows some very old but serious drug convictions to be set aside.
