Provides limited, one-time rental payment assistance determined on a case-by-case basis. If found eligible, assistance is generally limited to the last $100-$200 in order to serve as many people as possible. No help is given for rent in a future month or for deposits, fees, or other amounts to move into a new residence. No rent assistance given to persons renting from a family member, relative, or friend. DOES NOT offer motel stays or vouchers. Assistance is dependent upon available funding and is NOT guaranteed.
Eligibility: Low-income households. Need must be deemed an emergency by SVDP, meaning help is provided only when eviction appears imminent. Clients may be asked to provide proof of ability to pay remaining portion of their rent before receiving any assistance. Must not have received financial assistance from SVDP in the past 12-14 months.

INTAKE PROCEDURE: Call for appointment. Building is closed to all public access. Appointments are limited, and not all callers will get through. An interview or appointment does not guarantee assistance. Application voicemails or emails to other SVDP contacts will not be returned. SVDP will verify tenancy, lease amounts, and other information directly with the landlord or property owner before providing aid.
DOCUMENTS: Photo ID, lease agreement or 72-hour notice, landlord information (name, address, phone), proof of ability to pay remainder of rent (such as a money order made out to landlord; checks and cash are not accepted as proof)
