HOME REPAIR ASSISTANCE
The Section 504 Home Repair Loan and Grant Program helps homeowners in eligible rural areas remove health and safety hazards, repair, improve, or modernize their homes, and make them accessible to people with disabilities. The maximum loan amount is $40,000 (the term is 20 years at 1%), and the maximum grant amount is $10,000. Loans and grants can be combined for assistance.

Eligibility: -Live in a rural area (population of 35,000 or less)
-Be the homeowner and occupy the house
-Unable to obtain affordable credit elsewhere
-Household income that does not exceed the very low limit by county (chart available on website)
-Grants: Age 62 and older and not be able to repay a repair loan
-Manufactured homes in parks do not qualify for mortgage loans
