GIRLSTRENGTH
GirlStrength is a violence prevention program. The program shares the same philosophy as its sister program, WomenStrength, fostering awareness, demystifying fear, and empowering youth to be strong and confident. GirlStrength teaches physical and non-physical empowerment self-defense techniques. Classes are taught in nine-week sessions, week-long summer camps, and one-time workshops.

BOYSTRENGTH
BoyStrength is a primary violence prevention program for boys 10-14 years of age whose philosophy is fostering awareness, promoting healthy choices and empowering boys to be leaders in non-violence. Like WomenStrength and GirlStrength, BoyStrength teaches holistic self-defense, verbal assertiveness and personal safety. In addition to a nine-week course offered in Portland area schools upon request, week-long summer camps, community programs, and two-hour workshops are available.

Eligibility: Nine week course offered to Portland area schools are open to boys in grades 5-8 in the Portland area. Two-four hours safety workshops in the community are available to boys 10-14 years of age. Week-long summer camps participants range in age from 10-14 years of age.

IMPACT NW DANCING TREE FAMILY CENTER
COMMUNITIES FOR SAFE KIDS
An educational program that draws from the latest research on violence prevention. Providers go into local classrooms to teach children and youth how to get help if they are being abused or are living with violence. Offers programs to teach children that they have the right to be safe, to listen to their feelings, and to tell and keep telling safe adults when they need help. Also teaches adults (parents, caregivers, and teachers) how to listen to children, how to identify abuse indicators, and how to respond appropriately.

YOUTH FAMILY SERVICES
Youth and Family Services works with youth and their families by providing support services, including counseling, support groups, violence and anger prevention training, life skills groups, parenting classes, new parenting groups, crime victims support, and community information and referral and temporary housing.
