Assists in weatherizing homes. The following assessments can be performed to identify energy-related problems in the home: heating system safety checks, diagnostic combustion tests, insulation in attics and walls, and duct sealing and/or repair.

Offers repair services to low-income homeowners to keep their homes safe and decent. Repair projects may include painting, siding repair, trim/window repair, ramp and rail repair, landscape cleanup, and weatherization.

Provides efficiency products through a rebate; loan program upgrades may include heating systems, insulation, water leak repair assistance, and windows. Income-based efficiency rebates and loans are for homes with existing electric heating and water heating.

Community Distribution Partners provide portable heat pumps/cooling units to low-income community members vulnerable to extreme heat. Program begins June 2022 with implementation over a period of up to five years to distribute 12,000-15,000 cooling units. Most participating agencies include delivery and installation of units, including support for maintaining product life, efficiency, and usability. Also connects recipients to weatherization programs that help lower energy bills.

Christmas in July is a volunteer program providing minor construction and home repair for low-income residents. Volunteers work on a pre-approved list of projects at multiple homes. This could be new construction of a ramp for wheelchair-bound people. Volunteers will not do extensive roof work.

The church also accepts volunteers who want to help participate in the program.

The Weatherization Program is designed to assist low-income households in making their homes more energy-efficient. A performance test is conducted to determine which energy-saving measures or tasks are needed. These tasks may include insulating under floors, in attics, or in walls; cleaning furnaces and duct work; sealing duct work; and appliance replacement.

Weatherization services are available to qualifying homes and apartments, providing a holistic approach to ensure home safety, maximum energy savings, and housing affordability. Energy education services provide one-on-one client meetings, energy audits by the YCAP energy technician, and workshops. Low-cost self-help kits are available to households to reduce their energy burden.
