LANE COUNTY MEDIATION & RESTORATIVE SERVICES
MEDIATION AND RESTORATIVE SERVICES
Focus on Children: Court-required parenting class for separating and divorcing parents, which equips parents with skills for building strong relationships with their children and co-parents. The class addresses custody, parenting time, and the mediation process. Attendance at this class meets court requirements for parent education and mediation orientation.

Custody and Parenting Time Mediations: Mediation is a confidential process in which parents meet with a professional, court-approved mediator to develop a parenting plan that is in the best interests of the children. The parenting plan includes decision-making (custody); parenting time schedules (including routine parenting time, holiday, and vacation); parental rights and responsibilities; and parental guidelines. Parents must first attend Focus on Children prior to participating in mediation.

Family Check-Up (FCU): A brief, parent-centered, strength-based program. FCU consists of three appointments which include meeting with staff to share family information; working on tasks with the child in a video-recorded session; and participating in a feedback session.

Supervised Parenting Time: Offers parents an opportunity for safe and meaningful contact with their children.

Custody Evaluations: Evaluators meet three times with each parent, once with the children, and other contacts as necessary. Evaluators will prepare custody and parenting time reports and recommendation.

DIVISION OF CHILD SUPPORT
The Division of Child Support establishes paternity at the request of fathers or mothers, issues initial child support orders, modifies existing child support orders, enforces existing child support orders, interfaces with the state agency that tracks the collection of child support orders, and answers clients' questions about their cases. The office represents the State of Oregon and not the parent.

The Oregon Child Support Program has mediators throughout Oregon who are able to offer assistance developing parenting plans. A parenting plan is a written agreement between parents. It defines when a child will be with each parent (parenting time) and how decisions about the child will be made. It is used when parents are not living together. Sometimes parents agree about these issues and write their own plans, while others use the help of a mediator or attorney. A parenting plan may also be ordered by a judge after a trial or hearing. Safety Focused Parenting Plans are also available.
1162 Court Street NE
Salem, OR 97301
Eligibility: Child support services are available to both custodial and non-custodial parents. Even if the other parent is living in another state, you can apply for services in Oregon. Caretakers or relatives who have physical custody of a child may also be entitled to child support services.

Parents with an open child support case in Oregon who do not currently have a parenting plan, agreement, or a court order addressing parenting time qualify for free mediation to establish the agreement.
