NATIVE AMERICAN YOUTH AND FAMILY CENTER
CAREER SKILLS DEVELOPMENT
Provides opportunities for youth to gain skills and experience needed to be successful in the workforce. Job readiness and career skills are developed through one-on-one coaching sessions and a group Work Readiness Training that addresses personalized goals set by the client during individual intakes. Participants have access to sector bridge training programs that allow them to gain basic and advanced training for high-demand, high-wage careers.

Activities include culturally responsive assistance with resumes and cover letters, mock interviews, methods of networking, identifying online resources to access employers, best practices when contacting employers directly, dressing for success, and support accessing training opportunities. Youth also have access to cultural activities such as drumming, stick-making, and basket-weaving, as appropriate, and culturally specific mentors.
