ROSEBURG SELF SUFFICIENCY AND CHILD WELFARE OFFICE
THE LEARNING CHILD
The Learning Child program provides backpacks full of school supplies once a year to school children in need. The Mercy Foundation pays for the supplies and the Department of Human Services (DHS) in Roseburg distributes them each fall a couple of weeks before school. The vast majority of the backpacks are distributed to children who are already receiving services through the DHS. If there are any left over, staff may be able to provide them to the general public.
