TEMPORARY ASSISTANCE FOR NEEDY FAMILIES (TANF)
The Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program provides cash assistance to low-income families with children. Cash assistance is to meet a family's basic needs like food, clothing, rent, and utilities. TANF recipients may be able to participate in the Jobs Opportunity and Basic Skills (JOBS) program.

Eligibility: TANF is for families that:
- live in Oregon
-have low income and very few assets
-are either age 18 years old or younger and head of their household, or pregnant, or have a child who is age 18 years or younger

The applicant must be a US Citizen or a qualified non-citizen. Parents without US Citizenship can apply for benefits for children who are US Citizens.

INTAKE PROCEDURE: An applicant can apply online, contact a local office, or print and fill out the application. The printed application can be faxed, mailed, dropped off at a local office, or emailed to [email protected].
FEES: None
DOCUMENTS: Proof of ID, proof of income, Social Security Numbers (SSN) for all members of the family who want benefits, and proof of immigration status (if applicable). If you are applying for someone else and not for yourself, you do not need to bring proof of immigration status or SSN for yourself. If you face challenges obtaining proof of income or other documents, a worker can work with you to get income verification and additional needed information.
