EARLY HEAD START
Early Head Start is a center based program and a home-based program. Center-based options provide school day child care for children six weeks to three for eligible families. Families that are eligible for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) are eligible for Early Head Start. The home-based program provides home visits to promote healthy birth outcomes, enhanced child development, and positive parenting skills. Additional services for both options include: home visits, parenting classes, goal setting, and supports, and opportunities for parents to network. Early Head Start centers are located in Stevenson, and Goldendale in Washington; Hood River, and The Dalles in Oregon. Services include home visits, socializations (where parents and their children meet with other children and their parents) parenting classes, goal settings and supports, and opportunities for parents to network.

Eligibility: Pregnant individuals and families with infants and children ages 0-3. Families with incomes at or below 100% FPL are eligible. Children in foster care, homeless children, and children from families receiving public assistance (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), SNAP or Supplemental Security Income (SSI)) are eligible regardless of income. Families with higher incomes and specific needs, may also be eligible. Families with higher needs are prioritized.
