UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS
Unemployment benefits are made available through taxes paid by employer(s) to partially replace lost earnings and help the unemployed meet expenses while looking for another job. These benefits are intended to assist workers who lost their jobs through no fault of their own and are not based on financial need. Also fields calls around unemployment fraud and identity theft (if someone used your Social Security number to work or claim benefits).

Also provides unemployment benefits for federal workers who are working full time without pay as well as workers who have been furloughed and not working.
