Eligibility: Families currently living in substandard housing who meet all of the following requirements:
1) Meet income guidelines
2) Can commit to 250 hours per adult of sweat equity in construction
3) Are United States citizens or permanent residents
4) Have not owned a home in the past 3 years
5) Have the ability to pay a mortgage payment (steady income and decent credit history)

FEES: Families are responsible for a closing fee of up to $3000. 0% down payment for closing costs and a 0% interest mortgage (0% APR). Mortgage lengths vary depending on income; Habitat adjusts the length of the mortgage so that the monthly mortgage payment (which includes taxes, insurance, and condo fees, if applicable) is no more than 30% of the homeowner’s gross monthly income at the time of sale.
