WOMEN, INFANTS, AND CHILDREN SUPPLEMENTAL NUTRITION PROGRAM
WIC is a public health program designed to improve health outcomes and influence lifetime nutrition and health behaviors for women, infants, and children. Fathers, foster parents, and other guardians can also apply on behalf of a qualifying child. Nutrition education is the cornerstone of the WIC program; other services include breastfeeding support, monthly benefits for supplemental nutritious foods, and referrals to community resources.
