GRANTS PASS AREA HABITAT FOR HUMANITY
HOMEOWNERSHIP PROGRAM
Habitat for Humanity provides an opportunity for families to build and buy their own homes. The houses are sold at no profit to homeowner families. Mortgage payments go into a revolving fund that is used to build more houses. Homeowner families and volunteers provide most of the labor, and individual and corporate donors provide money and materials to build Habitat houses.

Eligibility: Families currently living in substandard housing who meet all of the following requirements:
-Meet income guidelines
-Can commit to 250 hours of sweat equity in construction or 500 hours of sweat equity for a two parent family, in construction of their home or others being built
-Are United States citizens or permanent residents
-Have not have owned a home in the past 3 years
-Have the ability to pay a mortgage payment (steady income and decent credit history)
-Must live or work within City of Grants Pass

INTAKE PROCEDURE: Call for information
FEES: Households are responsible for a closing fee. There is no down payment required but $1500.00 for closing costs; and a 0%-interest mortgage (0% APR). Mortgage lengths vary depending on income; Habitat adjusts the length of the mortgage so that the monthly mortgage payment (which includes taxes, insurance, and condo fees, if applicable) is no more than 30% of the homeowner’s gross monthly income at the time of sale.
