Week-long summer camp for children affected by a parent's cancer that provides a peer-based support network. The chapter of Camp Kesem that runs camps in Oregon is based at the University of Oregon.
Eligibility: Ages 6-18 who have lost a parent to cancer, have a parent undergoing cancer treatment, or whose parent is a cancer survivor. Eligible children may return to Camp Kesem more than once. Children with disabilities and special needs are considered on a case-by-case basis.

Camps also feature a carnival, parade and the gifting of presents to camp participants and their siblings during the holiday season. Sparks of Hope Healing Camp operates with a model that makes it a safe camp for abuse survivors. This structure includes 2 mentors/adults per every child so that a child is NEVER left alone with an adult. Volunteers are also given Trauma Informed Care training, are thoroughly vetted for this work, and given a comprehensive background check.
