Provides community members with a safe method to dispose of used syringes (sharps) and unwanted or expired prescription medications including those for pets.

Provides hot showers; an exchange of soiled bedding for clean; a clothing swap; menstrual/moontime hygiene supplies; first-aid kits; clean bathrooms; a legal place to dump household trash and needle disposal; first aid station (foot, wound, and mouth care); and a warm outdoor space offering coffee and tea. Also offers paid work and advocacy opportunities.

Healthy Streets is a program of the Multnomah County Health Department and City of Portland to reduce the number of discarded syringes in downtown Portland. Injection drug users can dispose of used needles/syringes at two secure disposal bins located on Portland's waterfront. A biohazard contractor empties the bins regularly.

The program also includes targeted outreach to injection drug users by Multnomah County health workers, as well as a public awareness campaign.

Distributes sterile needles on a one-for-one exchange basis and provides a sharps container for safe disposal. Provides harm reduction supplies like alcohol swabs, condoms, Naloxone training, and product. Offers referrals to community resources and recovery information. Services are anonymous.
