State law provides public access to Oregon criminal history record information through the Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) Division. It is designated by law as the state of Oregon's central repository for criminal offender information. Criminal history record information is confidential and exempt from public inspection, except through specific authority or statute. (CJIS) provides the following services for public access where allowed under the law. Open record (copy of another person's Oregon record - based on name only), copy of personal Oregon record (fingerprints required), copy of personal record from FBI (fingerprints required), public fingerprinting services (at Salem Headquarters Office only). Does not provide information for other states. By law, the individual of the request is notified when requesting someone else's record, including who the person or agency is making the request.
