MIGRANT EDUCATION PROGRAM
The Migrant Education Program works with Centennial, Corbett, David Douglas, Gresham-Barlow, Parkrose, and Reynolds School Districts in East Multnomah County to determine which students and families are eligible for services. The program is divided into three separate programs, all of which provide the following services:
-Assists schools in meeting the educational needs of migrant students and facilitates home-school communication by assisting parents with school registration and providing interpretation at parent-teacher conferences.
-Assists families in obtaining accident injury insurance for eligible children and help with dental and health emergencies.
-Conducts bilingual parental contacts, family visits, and phone contacts.

Eligibility: A Migrant Home School Consultant or Educational Assistant will make a home visit to verify the household's work situation. The staff member will then complete a Certificate of Eligibility to establish eligibility for migrant services.

Migrant children and youth are determined to be eligible if all of the following criteria are met:
-The child is younger than 22 (and has not graduated from high school or does not hold a high school equivalency certificate)
-The child is a migrant agricultural worker or has a parent, spouse, or guardian who is a migrant agricultural worker or a migrant fisher
-The child has moved within the preceding 36 months in order to obtain (or seek) or to accompany (or join) a parent, spouse, or guardian who is seeking temporary or seasonal employment in qualifying agricultural or fishing work
-The child has moved from one school district to another
