HATE CRIME REPORTING
The FBI leads investigations into criminal violations of federal civil rights statutes and investigates hate crimes. The Bureau defines a hate crime as "a criminal offense against a person or property motivated in whole or in part by an offender’s bias against a race, religion, disability, sexual orientation, ethnicity, gender, or gender identity." Also conducts law enforcement training, public outreach, and partnerships with community groups.
