GENERAL ASSISTANCE (GA) PROGRAM
Oregon Department of Human Services' (ODHS) General Assistance (GA) Program is based on a Housing First model to prevent homelessness of individuals with severe disabilities through short-term financial assistance around housing stability. The program serves individuals with severe disabilities who are in the process of applying for Social Security disability benefits, but do not yet receive them, and that meet other specific qualifying eligibility criteria. Clients will also receive assistance with Social Security applications and appeals processes. If a client is awarded Social Security benefits, they will pay back a portion of the GA award received. Please be sure all eligibility requirements are met.

Eligibility: Must meet ALL of the following criteria:
-Age 18-64 with no minor children living in the household
-Homeless or at imminent risk of homelessness
-Have a disability that meets Social Security disability criteria
-Meet eligibility criteria for SSI
-Is NOT receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI)/Social Security Disability Income (SSDI)
-Has already applied or plans to apply for SSI

INTAKE PROCEDURE: Call or email for more information. If someone has been referred to the program and wants to check on the status, they can contact the Presumptive Medicaid Disability Determination Team (PMDDT).
