HEAD START
Head Start services promote school readiness by enhancing the social and cognitive development of children in a classroom setting and by providing educational, health, nutritional, social, and other services to children and families. Parental involvement is emphasized. Services for parents include parenting classes and parent support and networking. Head Start classrooms in Bend, La Pine, Prineville, and Redmond.

Classes meet four days per week throughout the school year and may be either half- or full-day depending on location. Children receive individualized education. Children receive individualized education. Families are supported in developing family partnership agreements. Provides limited school bus transportation for children to most sites. Parents can participate in parent committee meetings, volunteering, attending educational sessions, having home visits, working toward meeting their family goals, and participating in Policy Council, which shares governance of the program with the NeighborImpact board.

Eligibility: Families with children ages 3-5. Families with incomes at or below 100% FPL are eligible. Children in foster care, homeless children, and children from families receiving public assistance (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), SNAP, or Supplemental Security Income (SSI)) are eligible regardless of income. Families with higher incomes and specific needs may also be eligible, but families with higher needs are prioritized.
