211 Regional Partnership Presents the 2007-2008
TRAINING AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SERIES
COMING HOME FROM WAR
Friday, May 16, 2008, 9am-11am, in Hillsboro
Cost: $35 per person, registration required
War vets never "come all the way home." Their combat experience becomes part of their being, and that part remains at war. We've seen the disturbing stories in the news, and often find ourselves struggling to connect in our interactions with our clients who are vets. Join us to hear first hand from Michael Maxwell about the issues our returning soldiers are facing and get information that will help you respond effectively when asked for help.
Michael Maxwell, M.S. has worked with combat veterans and their families for the past thirty years. He began his work with veterans working with Project Return, a community-based program in the late 70 and helped to organize and open the first Vet Center in Oregon. He has provided individual, group, family, and crisis counseling to veterans and their family members during that time. Mr. Maxwell also developed and implemented several programs for the treatment of PTSD in the VA. He has organized and provided numerous workshops and conferences on the treatment and care of combat veterans.
Following Mr. Maxwell's presentation a panel of providers will share information about the services they provide to veterans. They will offer insights into helping our returning vets and answer any questions you may have about available services or benefits.
